About Ira Gumberg

Ira J. Gumberg is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of J.J. Gumberg Co., a leading real estate development and management company that maintains a portfolio of numerous shopping centers throughout the United States. In 2005, recognizing the tremendous opportunity for organized retail outside the United States, he launched Gumberg Global, an international concern through which Gumberg engages in global real estate development with a focus on emerging markets.

Mr. Gumberg leads a fully integrated organization that focuses on the acquisition, development and management of investment-grade real estate within the retail and commercial sectors. Mr. Gumberg’s extensive background and proven leadership experience has been recognized by numerous corporations and organizations. He served on the Board of Mellon Financial Corporation from 1989 until 2007, where he was a member of the Executive Committee, Chair of the Compensation and Audit Committees and the board-designated financial expert. From 1992-2011, he served as a member of the Board of Directors and a member of the Executive Committee of Jo-Ann Stores, Inc., a national retail chain. Throughout his career, Mr. Gumberg has also served on the boards of various universities and educational institutions.

Mr. Gumberg also is involved in a variety of philanthropic activities with a particular focus on higher education. Through the Ira J. Gumberg Family Foundation, charitable donations have been made to institutions such as Georgetown University, Princeton University, Harvard University, Brown University and the University of Pittsburgh.
